
James Walker Benét (1914- ) was an American author. Benét is the son of Pulitzer Prize-winning poet William Rose Benét and the nephew (on his father's side) of poet Stephen Vincent Benét and (on his mother's side) author Kathleen Norris. He graduated from Stanford University in 1935 and worked for various magazines and newspapers, including The New Republic and the San Francisco Chronicle. In addition to two suspense novels (both set in the San Francisco Bay Area), he wrote A Guide to San Francisco and the Bay Region (1963, rev. 1966).
