Bermuda Burial

King, C Daly - Bermuda Burial (1940)

Michael Lord travels on a ship to make sure that a child is not kidnapped before they reach Bermuda. The entire first half of the book reads like a love story between Lord & one of the child's relative. The child is finally kidnapped after they reach Bermuda followed by 2 quick murders at the 2/3rd phase of the book. To complicate matters for Lord, he starts falling in love with another Lady and in the end the great psychologist Pons (whom we meet in all of Daly's books) himself fails to identify who Lord is actually rooting for. This is one of the those strange books that I picked up to read as a detective novel but ultimately ended up looking forward to who would end up as Lord's wife more than the solution to the mystery itself!
