Brewer, Gil

Page history last edited by J F Norris 11 years, 8 months ago

Gil Brewer (1922-1983) was an American soldier, warehouse worker, gas station worker, cannery worker and book seller. He resided in Florida and also wrote as Eric Fitzgerald and Bailey Morgan. Primarily he was known as one of the leading writers of paperback originals. His crime novels are the quintessential "noir" with little detection and an emphasis on average guys getting mixed up with sexy temptresses who lead them into a life of greedy indulgence.  He wrote a few TV tie-ins for the U.S. television show "It Takes a Thief" featuring Alexander Mundy.

Brewer's extensive bibliography is not listed below as most of his work cannot be classified as detective novels.  His only true detective novel was one of the several jobbed out as "Ellery Queen" in the years after Manfred Lee and Fred Dannay parted ways for good.
