Dillon, Eilis -  Death At Crane`s Court (1953)

After being diagnosed with a weak heart, George Arrow, a bachelor of independent means is advised to live out his days at Crane`s Court, a residential hotel on the Bay of Galway. On his way there he meets John Burden who has just inherited the property. Burden quickly makes enemies of all the guests and staff with the exception of Eleanor Keane, who has every intention of marrying him. When Burden is stabbed, the police, in the person of Mike Kenny, an old friend of George, finds that practically everyone at the hotel has reason to want to kill him, including the niece of the former owner, Barbara Henry, for whom George has a special fondness. And perhaps the previous owner was also a murder victim.

Having first hand experience as staff at a hotel herself, Eilis Dillon writes with light hearted and sardonic wit of the follies and foibles of the eccentric guests and the anxious staff intigues that are involved in running an old-fashioned Irish country hotel while combining that with a mystery full of gentle charm.
