Alfred Eichler (1908 - 1995) was an American advertising executive. His first mystery books concerned crime at the radio department of an ad agency. His series detective was advertising copywriter (and later agency director) Martin Ames. Police Inspector Carl Knickman was also a recurring character in the Ames books.
Eichler's work was largely set in and around New York City, where Eichler was born. Eichler was Guest Armchair Detective on the Ellery Queen radio show, the episode "The Phantom Shadow", March 6, 1946.
Eichler is not to be confused with the California architect and painter Alfred Eichler (1895-1977). They are two different people.
Anthony Boucher (who worked in radio himself) praised Death at the Mike as "knowledgeable" about radio, but felt Eichler's political mystery novel Election by Murder was too simplistic.
