McGerr, Pat - For Richer For Poorer Till Death (1971)
This later offering of one of the most underrated post-war American mystery writers lacks the brillance of her early works, though devising a whodunit with only four suspects is an achievement on itself. McGerr, however, is as good as usual at bringing complex(ed) characters to life and the story carries all of her usual themes (power, family oppression, greed, careerism vs. idealism). A must-read for both fans and curious, though the others would better start with stronger efforts such as Pick Your Victim, The Seven Deadly Sisters or Murder is Absurd.
