Helen Berneice Nielsen (1918-2002) was an American writer. Born in Illinois, she was educated at Chicago Art Institute and the US Defense Engineering Program. Nielsen moved to Chicago in 1928, where she worked in commercial art and interior decorating. In 1942 she undertook war work as an aeronautical engineer in factories in Southern California, and bought an apartment house which she managed. She now lives in Los Angeles. She wrote many short stories, and scripts for TV shows including Perry Mason. Her series character was Simon Drake.
