Richard Scott Prather (1921-2007) was born in Santa Ana California and educated at Riverside Junior College. He served in the US Merchant Marine during WW2 and married Tina Hager in 1945. Since 1949 he has been a writer and avocado farmer. His website can be found here. His series character is the comic detective Shell Scott. Shell Scott books are available electronically from many websites including Fictionwise. Prather also wrote as David Knight and Douglas Ring.
