The Iron Grip

Wallace, Edgar - The Iron Grip (1929)

The iron grip of the title belongs to 'Wireless' Jack Bryce, an ex-Army man of great strength, who is hired by a solicitor, Mr. Hemmer, for jobs outside the purview of his existing staff of legal clerks and accountants. Beginning as a bodyguard and standover man, Jack progresses through the ten shortish stories in this volume until he has demonstrated his skills as a detective, attained a permanent post, and found true love. Lightweight but competent work from Wallace.

The Iron Grip should soon be available from Gutenberg Australia.
