Frances Shelley Wees (1902-1982), Canadian Author, creator of the serial characters Michael Forrester and Dr. Jonathan Merrill and his sister Jane.

She tries over and over again to create a competent amateur detective - doctor or lawyer - but always coquettes with him so as to damage his performance and the progress of the story. The Canadian scene is often well done --- Barzun & Taylor, A Catalogue of Crime
