Hugh Wiley (1884-??) was an American engineer who wrote stories for the magazines. One set is made up of humorous stories about Negroes; another is a set of mysteries featuring Chinese. His best-known series detective was the Chinese-American James Lee Wong.
Wiley was born in Ohio and became a civil engineer and railroad contractor. The James Lee Wong stories were subsequently filmed with Boris Karloff and later Keye Luke in the starring role.
