Swan Song, or one should say Bat Song (as bats figure prominently in this one). Yet another, and final, huge country house inhabited by eccentrics in Appleby's neighborhood. (This one involves a valuable coin collection and a throat-cutting.) As Judith says:
"You do hanker, John -- don't you? And it isn't for your final eminence as top bobby in London. It's for the position of the promising young man in the CID."

Too bad he never did it again.... (It gets a star as being the last.)
