Anecdotal but amusing -- the right stuff like a Drambuie after dinner (not more than one or two a day, though). Many of the stories in this book turn on the gimmick of Sir John's personal 'Black Museum' ("I was telling you this was a very odd case, so please to inspect this jewel case.") Some of our old favorites reappear -- Braunkopf the 'puttickler' art dealer, Lady Scattergood, Nesfield University... There are a few great stories here, such as "A Matter of Goblins" and "Grey's Ghost."
Wyatt James
Some of the short-short stories read more like sketches for longer ones than works in their own right.
