Edwin Balmer (1883-1959) was an American science fiction and mystery writer. He was born in Chicago and educated at Northwestern University and Harvard. He married Katherine MacHarg in 1909 and after her death in 1925 married Grace A Kee. He was a journalist and magazine publisher and collaborated with Philip Wylie on the SF classic When Worlds Collide and its sequel. Balmer wrote several solo detective novels and collaborated with William MacHarg, his brother-in-law, on The Achievements of Luther Trant and The Affairs of O'Malley, early collections of detective short stories.
