Dane Chandos was the pseudonym used by Peter Lilley (????-1979) and Nigel Stansbury-Millett (aka Richard Oke), then, after 1946, by Peter Lilley and Anthony Stansfeld. Lilley and Stansbury-Millet apparently lived together in Mexico until Stansbury-Millet's death(?); Stansfeld was an English art historian who visited Mexico frequently. 'Chandos' then adopted the pseudonym 'Bruce Buckingham' for a series of detective stories featuring the retired Mexican detective Don Pancho -- officialy Francisco de Torla Saavedra, Marques de Languren y Orandain. In at least two of these he is assisted by the British aristocrat Lady Kendal.
