Mitchell, Gladys - Death of a Delft Blue (1964)

Review by Nick Fuller

3/5

Not particularly enthralling Mitchell, due to the amount of travelogue material included, especially in the remarkably dull chapter entitled "Eldon Hole". The characterisation is largely flat, although the psychology of the mother-dominated sisters ("as mad as Hamlet") is good. There are two plots, each of differing interest - the attempted murder of Florian Colwyn-Welch is the most interesting part of the story, and the actual murders are uninspired.
