Richard Ellington (1914-1980) was an American author of hard-boiled fiction featuring New York City private eye (and ex-actor) Steve Drake. He wrote five novels and at least five short stories.

Ellington also worked in radio, both as a performer and writer.

A review of some of Ellington's work, with some personal reminiscences, can be found here.
