Leonard Reginald Gribble (1908-1985) was a prolific English writer. His family came from Barnstaple, Devon. He married Nancy Mason in 1932 and served in the Press and Censorship Division of the Ministry of Information, London, 1940-45. He was a founding member of the Crime Writers Association in 1953, and also wrote Westerns and books on criminology and other subjects.
Gribble also wrote as Sterry Browning, James Gannett, Leo Grex, Louis Grey, Piers Marlowe, Dexter Muir and Bruce Sanders. As Leonard Gribble his series character was Superintendent Anthony Slade. As Leo Grex he wrote about Paul Irving and Phil Sanderson.
