Hastings, Macdonald

Macdonald Hastings (1910-1982) was a British writer. He was born in London and educated as Stonyhurst College Lancashire. He married the writer Anne Scott-James (later famous for her appearances on the radio panel game My Word) in 1944, and Anthea Joseph in 1963. He was a journalist, columnist and frequent broadcaster. He wrote many non-fiction books about social history and game shooting. His series character was insurance investigator Montague Cork, whom Hastings based on a real man, Claude Wilson of the Cornhill Insurance Company.
