Mole, William

William Mole, pseudonym of William Anthony Younger, (1917-1961), descendant of William the Conqueror, educated at Canford and Christ College Oxford. Apart from three volumes of poems he wrote three detective novels. His serial character is Alistair Casson Duker (called Casson), a wine merchant and gourmet. The Hammersmith Maggot (1955) was a bestseller and won the approval of Queen Elizabeth. Barzun & Taylor included it into their list of 90 classic crime novels.
