I'm reading She Died Because... by Kenneth Hopkins (1957). I've never heard of this author before and wonder if he wrote anything else. It's LOL as far as I'm concerned, with two amateur sleuths who are academics in their 70s, one absent-minded, the other (the elder of the two) very much on the ball, but both liable to go off into literary puns. There are some wonderful subsidiary characters too. As far as the mystery aspect is concerned, I haven't got far enough to know whether it's properly wound up, but I must say I'm really enjoying the process.
