Innes, Michael - There Came Both Mist and Snow aka A COmedy of Terrors
A light country-house shooting plot, with all the eccentrics coming up with theories blaming each other (vaguely reminiscent of Berkeley's Poisoned Chocolates Case). The brewer Cudbird is an amusing character, as is the first-person narrator. Clever, but disappointing, solution. This is the first of the Innes books that he just cloned over and over again: odd folks in a decayed, or not so decaying but threatened, fancy house in unspecified rural England.
